The Performers Set to Team Up for Absent Friends at the Harold Pinter Theatre
It has been revealed that the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End will soon become the home of Absent Friends by Alan Ayckbourn, giving audiences with a chance to witness the work of one of Britain’s best known playwrights. It will also be an opportunity to witness well known actors like Kara Tointon and Reece Shearsmith onstage, who perform alongside David Armand, Elizabeth Berrington, Katherine Parkinson and Steffan Rhodri under the direction of Jeremy Herrin.
Kara Tointon is best known to audiences for her role on the soap EastEnders, though she also earned attention thanks to her appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and Pygmalion at the Garrick Theatre earlier this year. Reece Shearsmith, meanwhile, is best known as a member of The League of Gentlemen, with who he has appeared on radio, television and film, though he has also appeared in Betty Blue Eyes at the Novello Theatre and Ghost Stories at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
The plot focuses on friends attempting to cheer up Colin after he lost his fiancée, only to turn to the gathering into a loathing-filled drama of jealousy and infidelity.
Absent Friends is at the Harold Pinter Theatre from Thursday 26th January 2012 to Saturday 14th April 2012.
